| One of the largest members of the deer
family, these animals were introduced to the Kodiak area in 1929.
Herds of various sizes are hunted on both Raspberry and Afognak Islands.
There are reports that some of these animals harvested weighed upwards
of 1500 pounds. Hunting these big animals is a challenge due to the
terrain, weather and the ever present Kodiak Brown Bear. This is a
fall hunt and hunters will need to apply for a lottery permit. Applications
for these drawing are available from the Alaska
Department of Fish and Game in early April of each year. We would
be happy to assist hunters in this process. A bull elk bugling is
one of the most thrilling sounds in the woods and a sign of pure wilderness.
Raspberry Island Remote Camps offers both guided and unguided daily
drop off hunts for these animals.
